Today, was a wonderful day of touring with Doug, Stacey & Kaleb Taylor. The first stop was the Palmach Museum, where my dear friend Arial was waiting for us. The Palmach first originated from the Haganah, then all the first military groups became what is now the Israel Defense Force ( IDF) after Israel became a state.
While there, I had the opportunity to speak to members of the Israeli Air Force and Army. I let them know their are American’s who are praying for them and how much they are appreciated. Truly these young people are on the front line of terror and are protecting the world from an enemy whose only desire is world domination.
After the tour, we heard the story of Mimi, Ariel’s aunt who was a member of the Palmach. Very impressive woman who I wish I could have met. Next we head into Tel Aviv/ Yaffo for a good Israeli lunch, and then touring of Yaffo, the Old Train Station and Neve Tzedek.
All of these places are rich in history, Jonah was here, Peter ( Shimon) house from Acts 10 is here, and the Etzel liberated Yaffo (Jaffa) into Israel’s hands. Click here to learn more
As we began to end our day we walked through the Old Train Station and heard the story about Ariel’s father coming into Israel on this train. Today this area is a beautiful sight with restored buildings turned into shops, cafe’s and restaurants. It was like taking a walk back in time, yet still feeling the present time. We made our way through Neve Tzedek, learning about the rich history of the area, and ended at the best place of all.
Savta (Grandma’s) Ice Cream. Doug sampled the French Vanilla Ice Cream and one would have thought he died and went to heaven. The delightful owner, added some chocolate ice cream on top and Doug was a happy man. We all had our ice cream ( French Vanilla of course) as wet sat and visited with Joy and Ariel. Just before leaving, I decided to have a cup of coffee to go. Now one must understand that if you want a cup of black coffee like in America, you either order Nescafe with no milk or an Americano. So, I ask for an Americano, oh my goodness it was the best cup of coffee I have had. Savta Ice Cream will be a destination stop on all my trips. So you better join me if you want to taste some really great ice cream and coffee and enjoy not only the atmosphere of this shop, but all of Neve Tzedek.
